Amazon Joins The AI Race

A lot of exciting things happening in AI last week. Amazon joins the AI race. AutoGPT and AI agents take the AI world by storm and Elon Musk registers the domain X.ai and more.
Amazon Joins The AI Race
This past week Amazon launched Bedrock. Amazon Bedrock is a new service for building and scaling generative AI applications, which are applications that can generate text, images, audio, and synthetic data in response to prompts. Amazon Bedrock gives customers easy access to foundation models (FMs)—those ultra-large ML models that generative AI relies on—from the top AI startup model providers, including AI21, Anthropic, Stability AI, and exclusive access to the Titan family of foundation models developed by AWS.
They also announced they are now making Amazon CodeWhisperer available for free. Amazon launched CodeWhisperer as a preview last year, which developers can use within various integrated development environments (IDEs), like Visual Studio Code, to generate lines of code based on a text-based prompt. While it was originally only made available to Amazon Web Services customers, the newly announced free tier should make it much more accessible to developers who don’t use AWS. Link here.
AI Agents
AI agents have taken off this past week, most notably AutoGPT. Toran Bruce Richards, a software developer, developed the open-source program known as AutoGPT, to automate the completion of multi-step projects. Normally, that would have required back-and-forth prompting if you worked directly with GPT-4. It "chains together LLM 'thoughts', to autonomously achieve whatever goal you set," as stated on the GitHub project website.
Here’s are a couple examples:
AI agent does research
Wow, @chillzaza_ just sent me this.
He runs an AI agent that conducts product research and writes a summary on the best headphones
This is wild, powered by GPT-4

Elon Gearing Up
Elon Musk has bought 10,000 GPUs (graphics processing units) for a new project. The Twitter CEO is apparently working on a generative AI venture at the company designed to rival ChatGPT. Musk has been openly opposed to OpenAI, and recently signed a letter calling for a 6 month pause on “giant AI experiments.” Seems like a very convenient time to call for a pause a few weeks before started his own AI project.
It was also reported last week that Elon has purchased the domain X.ai. Just a few days after formally filing paperwork to make Twitter a private company and to become X Corp. Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for more news coming out about Elon and Twitter ramping up in AI.

We’ve covered AI music in previous Newsletter and it almost seems to be getting better by the week. A new song going viral over the weekend uses AI to create Drake and the Weeknd’s voice. You can find the full song below.
